The Dangers of a Cashless Society
A special problem for small states. Absolute dictatorship.
Hello readers, sorry for the tardiness in a new article but I think I’ll copy and past that tag line at the start of most of my articles because I am so busy with other things these days. However, I have not forgotten you and I meant to write and publish this article weeks ago but things got into the way. This one will have some sting, if you have a gentle constitution you might want to skip it.
So what exactly is a cashless society? Well from a government perspective it means a country where most of the population is under 100% social control. It is essentially a dictatorship. How could I say this? Well let’s look at a few scenarios but first let’s look at the cashless bandit of the world, the European Union (EU).
In the EU sometime in 2027 a law will come into force that will make it illegal to make cash transactions over 10,000 Euro. To most outside the “golden billion” 10K Euro is a small fortune but within these countries it’s not actually that much. They would exceed that to purchase a pretty old 2nd hand car for example. Many of their expensive hobbies would also cross this boundary for a major purchase e.g. Purchasing a small Rigid Inflatable Boat.
Let us examine this concept. A citizen is supposedly free in this block of countries. They are supposedly able to enjoy the basic human freedoms of human expression without causing a public disturbance and the right to save and spend their HARD EARNED MONEY as THEY SEE FIT. When a government bans cash, they ban the last bearer instrument of free trade and government account in a country or a block of countries.
What does this mean? Well, what do you need to do to live a legal life in most industrialized countries? The answer, you NEED to CONSUME and to PAY TAXES. Consumption is in the form of purchasing the things you need to live, i.e. Food, utilities, etc. These things most people cannot generate for themselves. Their home garden can’t replace the grocery store and they can’t generate enough electricity and water to survive. They are already dependent upon the state who regulates these entities in almost all countries.
The tax problem is even more pronounced. Most countries have some form of Value Added Tax, they also have income and other taxes such as PROPERTY TAX. This one is the trick. By creating a property tax a government ensures that people MUST PAY TO LIVE. The money goes to the state. The state dictates what can be accepted as payment but as cash is accepted as legal tender it MUST be accepted in some form or another to pay taxes.
So the citizenry is already at the mercy and control of the government, the state. So why is more power needed? The answer occurs when Capitalists think they can become Socialists overnight. By this statement I mean economies that are essentially paper bags filled with debt need a way to FORCE most of their citizenry to do what the state wants. They wish the ability to FORCE you to spend and not save and force you to spend WHEREVER and on WHATEVER they want!
These may seem to be strong statements but they are actually based in solid fact. Think of what “cashless” means. It is essentially your credit card only. No bearer instrument. Your officials may say, “No, we are using the next greatest technology!”. What would that be you ask? Well they can IMPLANT an RFID chip into your body.
Get and RFID Chip Implanted for a Cashless Society
A link to the incident that occurred in the US is posted above in the body of this article. It seemed like such hilarious fun. Just let a corporation inject an RFID chip into your body for grins! This occurred in 2017, not too long before the Covid issue. There were also trial runs of this in European countries. These days public trust in the world medical system is either at an all time high or all time low, depending upon how critical your thought process is. I am speaking to both demographics in this article.
It’s perfectly safe they say, encased in inert glass. I mean its not like anyone reading this article ever fell off their bike and struck their hand hard enough to break something not too far under the skin right? No one’s ever suffered a notable injury to an area of the body.
Then they say things like, no problem, its microscopic and your body will push it out or just visit the hospital our wonderful medical professionals never make mistakes. Oh and that visit will be $500 and to replace the chip will be another $250. You sure are lucky! There was a time you could fall off your bike, wash and treat that wound yourself and go to work the next day. This is progress! More dependence on the state is good they say. They are no longer just our overseers, they are now our nannies, parents and in some cases our Gods to some people.
I’ve used credit cards since I was 18 when I got my very first just after my 18th birthday. I’m a digital citizen of the world, having traveled, studied and worked in multiple countries. I have financial accounts in multiple countries as well. I’m no guy hiding in a hole who still uses gold and silver bits to buy his necessities. Those are the truly free people. I know I’m a serf to the overloads of the state. However there are still some freedoms I enjoy AND SO DO YOU. For instance, if you don’t like what the state is doing you can STOP BUYING certain items thereby showing your displeasure. This FORCES THE STATE to take notice.
This is the same for private corporations. People boycott them all the time and they feel the pain. People use credit cards now though, so what’s the difference if cash is outlawed? The answer is, once the laws are in place and cash is gone the government controls you COMPLETELY. No law is going to stop this when the government can declare “states of emergency” like they did during the pandemic! This was proof of how they will react. They couldn’t stop freedom totally because people still had cash. The next time around when cash DOES NOT EXIST you bank accounts will be frozen, etc as happened to the Canadian Truckers during their protest against the government.
Newsweek article from the time
FreespeechUnion.org article on it
So there is precedent, clear and bold and for the exact reason the state is subservient to the people i.e. Protest. No protest, no dissension. To quote a favorite movie line of mine, “I am smarter than you, you will be my slave.” It was a comedy but the truth of the matter is if you believe the state to be smarter than you then you should probably stop reading this article right now because they aren’t.
The fiat dictate of money by decree with no backing is the end game of empires. Much of the nations of the world belong to the dominant empire and a new one is forming. Some competition is good but will they both decide to go this route? The allure is overwhelming for those in power. You protest, we shut you down. Have you ever tried to use a credit card at say an online gambling site? Many of those straight out don’t accept it. I don’t gamble I hear you say! Well neither do I outside the financial markets. That’s enough gambling to make a high roller month in Las Vegas look like working hard in the fields.
However I’ve spent my life working on the back end systems of the world. I have worked on the back ends for banks and other financial institutions. I know the power they have. You can make a purchase from a merchant that goes through then get a charge from your bank stating your credit card purchase actually classified as a “cash advance” and have to pay some ridiculous fee. In my case it was an $18 USD fee for a $15 USD purchase! This was on a TRAVEL SPECIFIC CARD! I was told that was the only reason it went through otherwise I would have been declined. Travel specific cards are for people who travel and when you NEED to make that purchase you will pay almost anything (within reason) for it. You see the bank knows about this and they make money on it.
If you NEED to get that item and don’t have foreign paper at that time you need to get it. For me it was a test so I could write this article about 5 years later and tell you about it! Yes, I’m exactly that sort of guy. A freedom vigilante when my leaders speak words such as the country is a “democracy” and the people are “free” and “happy”. You should be too. Us “older heads” are going to kick the bucket well before you and leave you guys as a new slave race in a new world.
What about the elite I hear you ask?! Shouldn’t they be worried too? Well they should but they are not known for their intelligence, just their thirst for power. In countries with foreign exchange (ForEx) issues they get the money from some bank loophole setup for them. The government’s excuse is because they NEED the ForEx to earn more ForEx or to keep providing vital services. While this seems legitimate on the surface does one believe for a moment that “friends and family” are not receiving special treatment? Does one believe that at least some vital ForEx is not making its way into hands of people who don’t need it. Those close to the money benefit from it. Hang close to the elite in a cashless society and they might give some rare clam shells they all trade in. You never know! Money like the old days!
Cashless may seem the way to go then right?! Bullet proof accountability down to the last cent they say. Yea right! Have you never had a credit card billing error? Double charges, charged for something you didn’t purchase or had your card number completely stolen and charges made on the other side of the world or in a country far away. These things happen REGULARLY to MANY people. Bank errors, etc. You see it in the news all the time. So what happens in a “totally digital economy”, chaos and mayhem. The ability to blame anything on hackers, a “technical failure” or the boogy man.
So we will have “mistakes”. Those with the connections will still be able to conduct business and life but the masses will not when the state puts you in their cross hairs for no reason or for the wrong reason. Those without the “right connections” will have no cash. No security blanket. The elite will find a way around it. Probably bearer bonds in their corporations, some state entity or some such legal nonsense. The children of today who spend their entire lives on their phones and share their entire lives are the ones who are going to pay the price in a future society. Looking at my demographic reader numbers I believe those to be the children and future children of those reading this article. Let this be a warning. Do no let politicians create an ironclad dictatorship under the guide of a cashless society! If they want to be dictators let them roll the army onto the streets and make a broadcast on the evening news stating they are now a dictatorship. At least then the young would know what they’re dealing with.
So your “digital money” is not yours. My credit cards can be shut down by my bank in a second. It is there in the legal agreements. My bank accounts can also be shut down in a second, again this is in the 30 page legal agreement you sign when you start these accounts. Even if not explicitly stated, laws such as “anti-money laundering” etc mean a bank can shut you down WITHOUT REASON and IS NOT LIABLE to give you a REFUND for losses incurred, even if you are perfectly innocent and the mistake was on their part. Check the Internet, there are thousands and thousands of first hand stories of this. Some have even been picked up by local new stations.
So this means, my money held in my bank is NOT MINE. The only money I have is the cash I have in my wallet and the little extra I keep in some safe place for a hurricane day. Those older than 45 in the Caribbean will remember the warnings before a Hurricane to stock up on food, water, survival supplies and CASH. So I guess the micro states of the Caribbean who are toying with cashless economies are now immune from national natural disasters?! Sounds to me like the politicians in these countries are having a God complex of sorts. Let’s not hope the have to face the end of days anytime soon or they might be found lacking!
So what’s the end game? I would suggest EVERYONE reading this article watch a movie by Christopher Bale titled Equilibrium (2002). I’m not providing it as a teaching aid but as a reference point. You can read the synopsis which will spoil the movie. A totalitarian state post war. Are we heading to the war now? A “father” who knows all, possibly an AI. Are we not pushing for this now? An AI who can be judge, jury and executioner? Children trust computers more than any human. Finally, a man behind the curtain, living in the very same emotional opulence denied to the citizens of the land. This would be the elite who get police escorts through traffic and have “Parliamentary Privileges” that allow them as MPs to do things everyone else cannot. During the pandemic in the UK that was so they could have parties without masks while everyone else was told to stay in isolation, amongst other things.
It sounds too far fetched I can hear many people say. Those old enough to remember being able to board international flights with a sharp object in their pocket so they could use it as a letter opener will understand. They didn’t have to undress in public, undergo invasive searches or be subjected to experimental scanning machines. This was the norm for me before 2001 when I did a lot of flying. If you didn’t fly before then and aren’t old enough to remember what I am saying sounds like science fiction. So to is the science fiction the rulers of the world have in store for the human race is my hypothesis.
Rulership, dominion, control, dictate. These are very powerful words but they mean just one idea, “Power over others”. Your boss has this power over you to an extent. He dictates your lunch break, your break times when you can get vacation, how much you get paid and if your life is easier to pick up your children or harder. This my dear readers is called POWER. This power comes from influence and control. If you give people control over you they will not stop until you have no ability to say, “no”. You are born into your home country and you need a job to survive but people jump jobs. It is a LOT harder to jump countries, especially when they are all on the same hellish bandwagon.
The Internet started free and without corporations able to exist on it. I was there. They couldn’t exist because they couldn’t make money. This was a golden time on the Internet. Knowledge flourished and free though was everywhere. Almost anyone on it could gain access to brilliant minds and exchange ideas. Fast forward to today and we are PREACHED TO by those who are supposedly holding these positions now. They aren’t the ones I knew then. Ads flourish, everyone is trying to sell you something. You are still free though. Free to go to a site without ads, etc. This is like having real, paper money in your pocket. Your freedom of choice. The freedom to say, “no” to the state in a legal fashion.
If the state dictates that you spend your money or loose it in a cashless society YOU MUST COMPLY! How can they do that you ask? It’s as simple today as telling the bank to wipe most (that’s also the imperative word) account balance to zero at the end of every month or quarter. Spend it or loose it, we are a “free market after all”. That means no savings, no capital and no chance to start a small business and break the cycle of slavery. To be your own boss, keep your own hours and tell those who think they control you where they can stick it.
“The government you elect is the government you deserve.”
― Thomas Jefferson (the original one lol)
Is this the Jefferson from the Jeffersons? (smile) Why would I ask that? Did we land on the moon? Again, why did I ask that? These are the reasons the global elite have found for taking control of the most mundane and human aspects of our lives. They say well, children have grown up on the Internet, people don’t know what’s true from what’s fiction. My question to them is, “Do they know what’s true from fiction?”
Do they believe they will create a super, self aware, benevolent AI that will then take control of millions of industrial 3D printers globally and produce all the items we need so we can stay at home all day and play online video games? If you believe this is their belief then I have a planetoid I personally still consider a planet to sell you, even thought the International Astronomical Union (IAU) says otherwise.
The IAU is an ORGANIZATION created in 1919. It doesn’t get to dictate my personal FEELINGS and BELIEFS. It does get to FORCE ME to refer to things a certain way in professional publications etc. because it has been granted dominion over academia relating to the stars. Remember that date kiddies, check your history book that is printed on paper and look for World War 1, dates. If I write a technical article referencing Pluto I give a paragraph to explaining a planetary body’s “demotion” so it stays on record. It might spark 3rd world thoughts about all the text books that needed to be changed and re-bought by inept governments, all the solar system charts in all the kindergarten classrooms that needed changing etc. It might spark a tiny, tiny bit of outrage that the rich and powerful in all countries of the world are continually able to do this to the poor and dispossessed everywhere, all under the protection of the “intellectual elite”. A bunch of storied PhDs. in all manner of fields who could out differentiate and integrate little old me I’m sure. That’s why I use a Computer Algebra System (CAS) and recheck my answers.
While the Chain Rule definitely isn’t rocket science; when you spend your entire life studying a specific field while on tenure you do know just about every little bit of red tape that can be thrown at anyone attempting to bring anything new, into any field. More power to them I say. I’d watch those nukes that are rattling pretty carefully if I was them. It’s the poor who know how to survive and world leaders have particularly bad aim in my experience from looking at history.
That word “dispossessed” couldn’t be found in the spellchecker on this platform I am using. This is a platform for authors. How difficult with multi terabyte dictionaries is that word to add I wonder? It was pretty difficult for Google to find as well. I had to be almost dead on with the spelling. Who is dead on these days with Google right? It thinks for us after all. These are just free thoughts of a free man who taught and teaches students and hopes at least one of them will read this article and just think. Use that brain God gave you to think “outside the box”, the PC box, the cellphone box even God forbid, the Google box.
I try to generate these thoughts in the youth because I can yet do so. In a cashless society my article can be “demonetized” simply by me not getting the credits someone sent. Those credits would automatically go to some government account for “misbehaving minds”, disruptors. I suppose it is better than a firing squad but isn’t the chilling effect exactly the same? No one to pass on doubt in their leaders to a new generation so the next generation can hold their leaders accountable.
A cashless society indeed. A totalitarian society assuredly. It might take a decade or five but no one really thinks they will ever be able to fly commercial again without taking off their shoes, belt or having a sharp object in their pocket. I mean, that’s insane. How many 10s of thousands, millions of passengers flew with items that could have been used as weapons before 2001 right? The world changed. Once you allow the global elite to rewrite the rules you loose your freedoms “forever” or until some incredibly powerful man is able to knock the elite back to that backup point before they went just a little more insane. Don’t hold your breath for these types. The world comes together against them because they are disrupting the plan. A human race of well behaved employees under the rule of a few elite is the plan. These types say “We aren’t telling anybody else how to live, we are just protecting our way of life.” Such vile men to espouse the basic right of being human, of being sentient. My heart will always stand with them.
Much ado about nothing Shakespeare once said. A tale of trickery and play of words. AI to filter our emails maybe? The pen and paper being outlawed due to them being “bad for the environment”. Where does it end I ask the young? Does it end with a chip in your neural cortex that can shut you down permanently or deliver pain or pleasure instead of money (digital or otherwise). Maybe, maybe not. However eternal vigilance is always needed. I told you this article would have sting! Thanks for making it to the end.
